"I am putting together another web page to take the place of my first
web page from last year. ( This is so much easier.) I am putting a
powerpoint calendar of preformances and other music trivia and
maybe with music. I have put web links to games and kck standards
I would like to put a place to make a quiz."

"For my afternoon/morning project I will be working with Warner Bailey
and Daryl Ammons which involves Quality Vocal Production. We will
be addressing the Standard 1.1.1 in the lesson.
For my morning project, I will be fininshing the web page for
Wyandotte High School Choral Department. I am working with one of
my students that has offered to be our web master. The web page
will consist of information about performances, homework, score
analysis, listening, picture page, and a power point presentation of
the choirs, programs, trips, etc.
I will also as we go along incorporate two research projects into the
lesson and technology parts of the classes. The two projects are:
1. Dispelling the Urban Myth - The study of rap music, does it have a
viable place in urrban high school music curriculum? I will be using
my students and classes as research tools. to answer that question.
2. I am very ineterested in ethnic music, especially arranged for mens
and womens choruses. I will be concentrating on two particular
works. The works are a trio of Traditional Songs of the Balkans for
women and Bethelehemu from Nigeria/yoruba arranged for men.
Due to time I chose to put all of my projects on at once. It also helps
keep me focused. I would love to discuss any of these projects or
receive any commentary on them.

Thanks!

"Proposal for TIME
Thursday, June 12th, 2003
Marsha Longabach

It looks like I will be the web manager of both of my school web sites.
I thought that I would take the opportunity to design the music web
pages this summer. After designing a basic format, I will then adjust
and adapt information, calendar, pictures, etc. to fit the needs of each
school.

The music web site will:

1. State a briefly my philosophy and what basic activities go on in the
elementary general music class.
2. Provide a program calendar for the school
3. Provide link to district fine arts calendar
4. Provide information centers for:
a. Students
1. Provide web sites to further practice and gather their musical
knowledge.
2. Provide the basicrubric for the classroom
3. Provide specific information about programs, special projects
etc.
b. Parents
1. Provide basic rubric for the classroom
2. Provide any copies of any forms parents would need to be
familirar with throughout the year.
3. Provide specific information about programs,, special projects,
etc.
4. Provide music links that could be of interest to parents.
c. Teachers –provide teachers with information and answer
questions that come up year after year. Specifically, a copy of my
begnning of the year letter with my expectations.

Some of the information will not have to be repeated on separate
pages, but listed on one page and then target the areas"

"Soba Sobo Shares

Web Page Project A.M.

ALL ABOUT YOU

The All About You poject utilizes the National Standards seven, eight, and nine.

#7 5.6.2 Compare a variety of musical sounds.

#8 5.8.2 Interpret music in relation to culture.

#9 5.9.2 Compare the characteristics of two or more arts.

This website will allow students to make choices, answer questions, and learn about themselves
based on previous music experience.

Part 1 of All About You contains questions that include personal choices about instruments,
vocal music, culture, and the arts.

One of the question s in part one reads; Which instrument do you like best? Violin, trombone,
oboe Listen to the selections and choose.

There are no wrong answers!

Part 2 of All About You is a Family Tree.

This will involve some research by the student . It should be a learning experience, perhaps
,revealing new areas of exploration .

Part 3 of All About You is centered around imagination, exploration, and personal interest.

The main question is: What would you like to see/hear/learn/do in music this year?
The student answers involve checking some of the choices such as - seeing the inside of the
piano, attending an opera, watching a marching band, listening and watching pipe organ, hearing
all the sizes of saxophones, etc.

There is also an area provided for the student to present other requests"

"My project is a sub-module of my group's afternoon project. I am designing a web page to help
students learn their major scales. Students will be able to explore web links that teach them how
scales are constructed, learn about patterns of whole and half steps, and practice writing letter names for
scales with the correct accidentals. After students explore a wide variety of pages and feel that they
are comfortable enough, they will take an online quiz that tests their ability to construct scales. This test
is a simple form that will be emailed to me for grading purposes. This lesson deals with Standard 5
(reading/notating music) and ultimately is a primer for dealing with Standard 2 (perform on instruments)."

"I would like to create a page that expands on my "All Strung Out" page
from last year. This one was geared more toward beginning fourth
grade students and I want this one to be geared toward 2nd year
continuing students to enrich regular classroom instruction by urging
students to explore the possibilities: I am thinking I want to
emphasize the following standards:

6. Listening to, analyzing, and describing music.
7. Evaluating music and music performances.
8. Understanding relationships between music, the other arts, and
disciplines outside the arts.

This may take the form of students doing a controlled surfing-the-web
project--maybe a webquest project."

"I forgot one other thing. Today our group is going to video Darryl
Ammons on correct vowel formation and incorrect vowel formation.
This, we will also post on the web site"

"So far my morning web page is going to link what we are doing in the
afternoon session. We are focussing on good, healthy vocal
production. It will fall under the first national standard which is 1.1.1
in the district standards. The student will sing alone accurately with
expression and technical skills proper breath support, intonation,
resonance, tone quality, and vowel production. We will address
taking care of the voice, what to do and what not to do. The students
will be able to see by way of the web, the function of the vocal cords in
motion based on pitch. They will also see the effects of incorrect
vocal production by seeing the result of nodes. In the area of breath
support we will discuss the function of the diaphragm and the
students will also view on the web a video of the diaphragm in
motion. All of this will be posted on my web site.
I hope that this is the right direction for the morning session. In any
event I am learning so much and hopefully I will be able to use it in
my classroom at school. Thanks for any input that anyone may have
to make this better.

Warner"

"This year my project will be an extention of last year's web page. I will
add one (possibly two) units(s) to my page. One unit will correspond
with the unit that I write for the afternoon class. Unlike the other units
on my page, this year's unit will not include a pre-test or practice-test,
but it will have an activities page and a bulletin board. The board will
be used for the final assessment of the unit which will be about
evaluating music and music performances. The second unit (if I get
to it) may just be some links to other pages/lessons that already
meet other national standards."

"I propose to create a webpage that deals with establishing a
practicing routine for students. This would obviously coincide with
Standard 2: Performing alone a varied repertoire of music.
Regrettably, it seems to follow the "teaching machine" style of
presenting the information, then testing the student on what they
learned from the information.

The page serves two purposes in my mind. It creates a resource for
students to peruse as well as setting an expectation for students in
my program. Is the expectation high? You bet. Is it impossible?
Nope. Hopefully this will meet the criteria for the coursework."

"I am creating a web page for the orchestra at Wyandotte High School.
It will list the National Music Standards, and will focus on the second
standard (performing on musical instruments alone and with others).
It will also have several links, including the Wyandotte High School
web page. I also hope to have a Bulletin Board so that students can
communicate with me."

"I am dividing my page into two sections, one for teachers and one for students. On the teachers
section I plan to have the standards spelled out as well as useful links and a link to the lesson
plans we create this summer. On the students section, I am hoping to put sections of practice
lessons and quizzes on various aspects of music education such as ear training, rhythm, etc. I
will put what standards each addresses somewhere on the section, but I am not sure as to where
yet. I am also not sure how many of these I will be able to create as I plan to have pictures and
audio files while making the pages--especially the practice pages, as interactive as possible. I
also want to have a pretest of some sort and a place for students to send me comments and
feedback, or just questions in general about music. These are my ideas so far anyway...we shall
see what the future holds. "

"This is my first year and I am somewhat overwhelmed by everything
we're trying to learn, HOWEVER, I THINK what I want to do is:

Create a quiz that correlates with my afternoon lesson plans. The
quiz would assess Standard 3.1.2 - Sing with others music of various
world cultures using proper choral techniques. I would like to
incorporate the use of graphics so that the students could "point and
click" and receive immediate feedback on their responses."
